Mission Statement

The mission of the Grand Traverse Area Literacy

Council is to increase public awareness of the impact

of illiteracy and the benefits of a literate public. Our

mission is to teach volunteers as tutors to assist

adults and children in reading, writing and

mathematics and to assist English as Second

Language (ESL) students with the English language

while maintaining an atmosphere of strictest

confidentiality.
