Tutor & Volunteer Training
Training Workshops
Certified Tutor Training Workshops are offered twice a year - Spring and Fall - to high school graduates eighteen and over. The training is FREE. A fee of $10.00 is charged for the LitStart training manual (which the tutor keeps), handouts, and certification.
Other persons, i.e., those with a teaching license, may be assigned without Tutor Training Certification. However, on assignment, they must purchase the LitStart training manual. They are also expected to attend the next LitStart workshop.
An additional English as a Second Language (ESL) Workshop for tutors assisting adult students is offered at least once a year.

In-Service Programs
Periodic in-service programs are offered to tutors, volunteers, and other interested persons to help them update their tutoring skills. In-service programs offered during the past twelve months include "New Approaches to ESL", "Dyslexia", and a "Tutor Round Table Discussion".
